With 841 first-place votes, 41 second-place votes, and 3 third-place votes, Burrow had a decisive victory in points with 2,608. This is the highest point total ever recorded in Heisman voting since they switched to their current system. Burrow’s closest competitor, Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma University (OU), had 12 first-place votes, 231 second-place votes, and 264 third-place votes for 762 total points. Justin Fields of Ohio State University (OSU) had a respectable 6 first-placed voted, 271 second place, and 187 third-place votes but still came out far behind with 747 points. OSU’s Chase Young ended up in fourth place with 20 first-placed votes, 205 second place, and 173 third-place votes for 643 total points. Joe Burrow is the rightful winner for the 2019 Heisman Trophy and will go down in history as one of the most highly acclaimed quarterbacks of all time.
