The Groves Tailgating Tradition
The reasons that the strict guidelines and equipment and service companies have emerged is because of the incredible passion that exists for celebrating the many aspects of gamedays in Oxford, Mississippi. Ole Miss has many traditions that rank high in college football circles. And the one that stands tallest is the tailgating that takes place at the Grove. The sensation that seems to grow stronger each season has been highlighted by many national broadcasts and has been featured in national publications such as the New York Times and the USA Today. The reputation for great times at The Grove is so appreciated that the Sporting News Magazine named Ole Miss as college football's No. 1 Tailgating Site!
Located on a 10-acre grassy plot of ground that's shaded with many stately oak trees, The Grove hosts numerous fans on Football Saturdays who rekindle friendships, eat a great assortment of food, and sometimes partake in a drink under the cover of a sea of tents. Many of the tents are equipped with many amenities that include chairs, tables, flat screen TV's and some even feature chandeliers.
With the growing abundance of Ole Miss fans wanting to experience a gameday at The Grove, more and more guidelines are being implemented to ensure that fans enjoy a positive experience. Information is constantly released and updated on when The Grove will open up on Friday nights. Tents must be 12 x 20 or smaller and there are strict policies regarding alcohol use and the types of generators that can be used. Much of this info can be found on the Visit Oxford website with 10 must knows for tailgating.
