The 2009 Heisman Trophy Race was extremely close, but
Alabama’s RB Mark Ingram edged out the competition and brought the first Heisman Trophy back to Tuscaloosa.

In Mark Ingram’s acceptance speech, he said he was honored to become part of the Heisman fraternity and proud to bring Alabama their first Heisman trophy.

Ingram rushed for 1,658 yards and 17 TDs for
Alabama’s 2009 National Championship team.
Ingram also added 334 yards and 3 scores through
the air.
