developments regarding University of Alabama
football jerseys through the years.

  • It was common for Alabama football
    jerseys to feature stripes during the early
    years of Bama football.  Alabama wore
    striped jerseys in 1899 and still featured
    them to some degree in the 1930s.
  • Alabama wore white football jerseys in
    1928.
  • Numbers made their appearance on
    Alabama football jerseys in 1930.
  • New white jerseys with crimson shoulders
    and three crimson stripes on the arms
    premiered in 1950.  In 1954 this team gear
    was modified when the crimson was
    removed from the shoulders.
  • The Crimson Tide football jerseys featured
    stripes on the arms for the last time in
    1959.
  • In 1974, they featured no numbers on the
    side of the arms.
  • Names premiered on the back of the
    football jerseys in 1981.
  • The University's jerseys featured a
    Centential patch on the left shoulder in
    1992.
